Exquisitely adapted to the challenges of desert living, the Round-Tailed Ground Squirrel, can withstand even the hottest days on the surface, finding water by consuming plants that are 80 percent water on average. They are found in the Sonora, Colorado and Mojave Deserts in the Southwestern USA and Northwestern Mexico. Also known as Ardillón Cola Redonda, its Spanish name.

Sean Griffin (b. 1949- ) is an award-winning American fine art and portrait photographer who divides his time between the beautiful Pacific Northwest of the United States and the lush Sonoran Desert of Arizona. His work has been recognized by The Smithsonian, among others. In addition to his paid work, he is a volunteer photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a non-profit organization providing remembrance photos for families whose babies will not be coming home from the hospital.
