Thanks to a wonderful collaboration between philanthropist Dennis Avery and metal sculptor Ricardo Breceda, Borrego Springs, California is home to more than 130 amazing creatures - historic, prehistoric and fantastic, scattered throughout the desert on private yet publicly accessible land. This scene reminded me compositionally of Andrew Wyeth's masterpiece, Christina's World.
Sean Griffin (b. 1949- ) is an award-winning American fine art and portrait photographer who divides his time between the beautiful Pacific Northwest of the United States and the lush Sonoran Desert of Arizona. His work has been recognized by The Smithsonian, among others. In addition to his paid work, he is a volunteer photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a non-profit organization providing remembrance photos for families whose babies will not be coming home from the hospital. Donations of his art have benefited the Susan Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, the Seabury School, the Nisqually Nature Center and the Anderson Island Historical Society.
