The Torrey Pine is the rarest pine tree in the United States, and is someone odd looking, Rather than the straight vertical trunks of most pines, the trunks of Torrey Pines twist and bend like an oak. The grow only along the California coast in north San Diego County, and are protected at Torrey Pines State Reserve on bluffs high above the Pacific Ocean.
Sean Griffin (b. 1949- ) is an award-winning American fine art and portrait photographer who divides his time between the beautiful Pacific Northwest of the United States and the lush Sonoran Desert of Arizona. His work has been recognized by The Smithsonian, among others. In addition to his paid work, he is a volunteer photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a non-profit organization providing remembrance photos for families whose babies will not be coming home from the hospital. Donations of his art have benefited the Susan Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, the Seabury School, the Nisqually Nature Center and the Anderson Island Historical Society.
