Description
In the late 19th century, as the Mojave Desert became even more arid, cattle ranching become increasingly perilous. In a vain attempt to keep it going, some cowboys dammed up a basin in what is now Joshua Tree National Park to provide ample water supply. Today it is the destination for one of the park's most popular trails.
