Description
All nests empty at some point, and for bald eagles it's no different. This nesting pair watch from their treetop eyrie as their offspring departs. Bald eagles can live as long as 40 years, and their eyries continue to grow as large as 9 feet across and weighing up to 2,000 pounds. The immature bald eagle won't get its full adult markings -- the distinctive white head and white tail and blackish-brown feathers until between its 4th and 6th year.
